ACL Reconstruction Postoperative InstructionsMonths 5-6
Exercises:
1. You may begin weight training, concentrating on gastrocnemius strengthening exercises, hamstring curls and leg presses. Avoid leg extensions as this may irritate the kneecap.
2. Agility Drills:
- Begin lateral running. Run ten, 40-yard dashes. - Begin running figure-of-8's. Start slow and gradually increase the pace as confidence builds over days to weeks. - Begin one-legged jumping. Push off with the reconstructed leg, but land on both feet. - If you are jumping rope, start to do one-legged and crossover jumps.
Other:
Continue to cool the knee as needed. Continue patellar mobilization.
