Background
Doctor Ilahi is an Orthopedic Surgeon specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the shoulder, elbow, and knee, and is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Ilahi has numerous research papers and scientific presentations to his credit and has also authored chapters in Orthopedic and Sports Medicine text books. His success in quickly returning injured athletes to their sports has led to Dr. Ilahi being featured in broadcast television news and radio interviews since he began practicing in the Houston area in 1995. He has been an invited speaker at medical meetings, both domestic and international, and has been repeatedly rated one of Houston's top doctors by H Texas Magazine. Dr. Ilahi has also served as the President of the Texas Society of Sports Medicine (www.tssm.org). In 2001, Dr. Ilahi founded the Texas Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine Institute (TASMI) in order to promote research, education, and patient care in the fields of sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Ilahi graduated Summa cum laude from Rice University, where he majored in Biochemistry. He went on to receive his M.D. degree with High Honors from Baylor College of Medicine, where he also completed his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery. He then performed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin, where he helped treat the University of Wisconsin athletes. When he took the Federal Licensing Examination (FLEX) in 1989, after graduating from medical school, Dr. Ilahi received the highest Basic Science score in Texas. In his most recent American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery re-certification exam, Dr. Ilahi scored in the 99th percentile, placing his score in the top 1 percent of orthopedic surgeons taking the examination that year.
